How to combat writers block: A guide from experience
Writers block is an inevitable experience all writers akin have experienced. The feeling of words on the tip of your tongue and nothing to express it all at once. Here are some of my tips on how to combat and get back to creating seamlessly and effortlessly.
Discover a world of grounding
Becoming in tune with one- self is not a task of ease. Neither is writing or overcoming a creative block.
- Take pride in your work. Embrace your anonymity and openness. Expression is the biggest motivation. Express the way you feel in the moment and release it.
Don’t throw out those poems written when you were younger.
- The words your younger self wrote were for a reason. A poem is never truly finished. Every word or stanza has the potential to be revised to fit something you have been working on. Use them!
Finish one piece before starting another
- It may be tempting to start something new as ideas are rolling but it can lead to getting sidetracked. Compiling a document of unfinished thoughts and starting one at a time can help the words flow more effortlessly.
Set the tone with music
- A light melody or a favorite song can cause the creativity to flow. White noise and Smooth Jazz are great alternatives to not deter the process.
Create a place where you feel inspired
- Committing to writing something is also committing to creating a place where you feel comfortable to be vulnerable. A place where there is little distraction and maximum comfort.
